Life Skills Education
As new Christian inmates continue to attend the ministries and move closer to completing their time served, Set Free on the Inside Ministries continues to support them in preparing for their next steps in their incarceration journey. This step in the program strategy is equivalent to the growing or teaching stage of disciple making (Matthew 28:19). When inmates continue to be active in the ministry and are approximately two years prior to release, they are encouraged to take the life skills education course. This 13-week course was developed by Norman Curfman with Life Skills Prison Ministries and is designed to help those currently serving time complete a series of lessons promoting Christian transformational thinking. By helping those incarcerated understand that Christian values can be applied to every aspect of life, they begin to transform the way they think away from the patterns of the world and renew their minds to thinking in Christ (Romans 12:2, NKJV). Currently, Set Free on the Inside Ministries is training volunteers and staff members to oversee the implementation of The Life Skills Program in four NC Prison facilities. Set Free on the Inside Ministries intends to expand the number of facilities to eight within the first year.
